DroneSET Association is an Italian organization active in the field of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). It brings together professionals with cross-disciplinary expertise in aeronautics, airport safety and security, UAS engineering, and IT.
The team, predominantly based in Sicily, has always been committed to topics such as S.A.R. (search and rescue), wildfire prevention (A.I.B.), and environmental monitoring across the territory. To date, it has established various collaborations with other non-profit organizations, municipalities across the country, and companies. Given the diverse professional profiles of its members, the team decided to develop and make available to the association free of charge a software solution called “I.S.I.D.E.” (Integrated System for Identification Detection and Emergency). The platform, which we will now call ISIDE, features a series of integrated functionalities suited to any type of scenario:
- Live video stream management: from drones, cameras, webcams, body-cams, dash-cams, smartphones, etc.;
- Real-time tracking of drones, vehicles, and field operators: supported by thermal maps and 2D and 3D polygon tracking;
- Multi-waypoint management on 2D and 3D satellite maps;
- Use of various video AI models: the association trains models internally without relying on pre-built models;
- Real-time alerts and notifications;
- Passive and active audio AI: enables information retrieval and management of various IoT devices—integration with heterogeneous electronic devices, or physical activation of devices following processing of “complex” mathematical models;
- Integrated messaging system: both via dedicated chat module and Telegram;
- Visualization of N.F.Z. (no-fly zones) for UAS;
- Visualization of zones designated in A.I.P. Italia for UAS and civil air traffic;
- Map visualization: road and satellite maps in 2D and 3D;
- Instant messaging services for alerts and notifications;
- Integration APIs developed for third-party software systems;
The association is constantly seeking new collaborations of any kind: from Public Administrations (provinces, municipalities), non-profit organizations, and companies. The association and team strongly believe in mutual knowledge exchange and collaborations of any nature. Currently, the platform collaborates with a national drone manufacturer, an interregional civil protection division, and several organizations dedicated to wildfire prevention in Sicily.
